RFID Guardian Use-Cases

From RFID Wiki

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology used for automatic identification of persons and objects. RFID readers use radio waves to broadcast queries and RFID tags replies with their unique identification numbers by radio waves as well. So that the readers and tags can be far away from each other. RFID Guardian is an active device protecting RFID tags from hostile RFID readers. It requries that RFID readers authenticate themselves first and then uses Access Control List to determine if a particular reader has rigths to query a particular tag. If not, RFID Guardian will broadcast jamming signals to the reader, so that the reader will be confused.

RFID Guardian is an on-going research project from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Technical University of Delft. Its homepage is here. Researchers are studying whether RFID Guardian could be really useful in people's real life, and how. Following are their first-step achievements. The PDF version of my thesis could be downloaded here and full set of tex source files can be downloaded here.

Please study RFID Guardian Access Control List first, because this is useful to understand RFID Guardian usage in following scenarios.
